Enough waiting already!!! I am finally announcing the winners of our Headsweats giveaway!
Fellow For The Love Of The Run teammates suggested we pick brand new never-won-nothing-from-us-before winners. Again, as usual, I want to pick everyone. Nikki, your gift is indeed priceless. Shauna and MaryAlicia, your gifts are precious enough that the English language has not a single fitting word to describe them. I am fighting the urge to slip your names into my e-mail to our Headsweats rep... But you guys have no room to be bitter- you've all won stuff from us recently.
Everyone else that posted, thank you for taking a moment to write about the most precious gifts- the ones that make it clear that love overshadows money and material items. The ones that prove that it really and truly is the thought that counts. Thank you, thank you, thank you...
Our winners are:
I'd love to share something extra sentimental.
This is my wedding band.
It is made out of a 1939 quarter.
Quarters that were made between 1932 and 1964 are comprised of 90% silver- purer than most silver jewelry on the market today. My husband had a collection of old coins that he got from his grandparents who owned a newsstand in New York City.
Someone please tell me what value a store bought diamond could have compared to the painstaking time, sweat, precision, attention to detail, effort and laborious love it took to create this symbol of our union that is as unique as we are. To add to it's value, my son stood beside him and watched and was inspired to hammer out his own ring. At times, I was simultaneously unnerved and touched by hearing the monotonous sound of the banging banging banging as my eleven year old boy was refining a coin into his own work of art.
To me, this symbolizes a promise to spend our lives creating rich memories together. To carve love out with our own hands. To not fold to what "everyone else" is doing, but to pour our hearts out to one another in whatever way we desire. I'm the type of person that prefers an exciting vacation or a hundred days of dining out over a rock on my finger that I am petrified of losing because of it's monetary value. (I have no jewelry that has high dollar value because of this very reason- I just feel too pressured to be responsible when wearing it!) You cannot lose memories, true passion, or loving thoughts. Even if I lost this ring, the value of it would never be lost to either of us. (Though I protect it more than any other piece of jewelry I have!)
Winners, e-mail me here with your address as soon as possible so we can send your new Headsweats Velocity Visors to you!
